In times of uncertainty, Nike’s latest short film shows how even when the chips are down, things will get better and victory is possible.

Narrated by NBA superstar LeBron James, “Never Too Far Down” offers inspiration to everyone through comeback stories of athletes on the verge of losing but kept on fighting and eventually won, proving what we are capable of.

“We found a way when it seemed hopeless,” said James.

Sports events around the world are slowly restarting, many competitions have been rescheduled while some athletes are back in training. The postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympics have been moved to July 23, 2021, while Major League soccer players returned to voluntary training on May 6.

“Even if basketball looks different for a while, I’m excited about the possibility of getting back in the game, because I know how inspiring and powerful sports can be. I think the lessons we learn from sport can inspire us all,” said James.

Meanwhile, professional tennis player Serena Williams believes sports transcends boundaries, bringing people together—players and fans.

“Sport is the one thing that’s true, it doesn’t matter what you look like, where you’re from. Everything is left out in the arena. For me, I put it all out there on the court as a player, but it also feels that way as a fan. You feel that joy when someone you’re rooting for wins. That’s because of the unity that sports bring us,” she said.

Tiger Woods, on the other hand, is “looking forward to [the charity match] this weekend and creating a platform to raise money for COVID relief and hopefully remind folks of the levity and joy that golf and other sports can bring to the world.”

“Right now we’re fighting for something much bigger than a win or championship. But if we learned anything from sports, is that no matter how far down we may be, we’re never too far down to come back,” James narrated in the film.
