Nearly 300 young artists showcased their creations that showed their appreciation of their lives at the recently concluded art competition of Global Art Philippines.
Participants are current students of Global Art Philippines in Ortigas, San Juan, Del Monte-Quezon City, Makati, Serendra, Alabang, Binondo, Ycaza-Manila, Fun Ranch-Pasig, New Manila, Pampanga, Cebu, Davao, and General Santos City.
Of the hundreds of participants, seven were adjudged grand champions, which automatically earned them a spot in the Global Art International Level Competition in Singapore on Dec. 1.
“This year’s theme was ‘My Appreciation’ because we wanted our young artists to translate into visual art their appreciation of God, their family, friends, nature, technology, and the quality of their lives in general,” said Global Art Philippines country manager Yenny Saw.
The competition was divided into two major categories: Creative Drawing and Acrylic Painting.
The grand champions in Creative Drawing are Daphne Elizabeth Dira (Category A: 4-6 years old), Judy Kwag (Category B: 7-9 years old), Ervin Cedric Uy (Category C: 10-12 years old), and Priya Nelly Atheena Tan (Category D: 13-18 years old).
Meanwhile, the following were declared winners in the Acrylic Painting Category: Keana Nicolle Jiang (Category 1: 7-9 years old), Julia Gabrielle San Juan (Category 2: 10-12 years old), and Roland Jude Gellang (Category 3: 13-18 years old).
Fourteen-year-old Gellang, who won in Acrylic Painting Category 3, traveled all the way from Global Art General Santos City for the event. For him, art was fun and the competition was challenging and rewarding.
San Juan, 10, couldn’t more. She said, “There was a lot of pressure but the rewarding experience was winning!”
For Dira, 6 years old, practicing everyday helped her win and she said the victory was going to be extra special since Dec. 1 (the date of the international competition) is her birthday.
Jiang, 9, meanwhile, attributed her victory to her family and teachers. She also added that her art studies at Global Art Pampanga helped build confidence and discipline.
Tan, 16, seconded, saying she is more confident now and will continue with her art program.
Global Art Philippines is a unique art school where toddlers, kids, and teenagers are encouraged to unleash their creative potential through world-class art enrichment programs. These activities and programs give kids the opportunity to develop their appreciation for art and hone their intrinsic gifts of exploration, self-expression, logical thinking, self-esteem, imagination, and creativity.
“Most values our students learn in class have positively impacted their personal lives. They are taught that the world is a big canvas and it’s up to them to leave it blank, or start living their lives in full optimistic colors,” said Saw.
