Mallgoers had the rare opportunity to view Philippine Traditional Musical Instruments up close during the recent exhibit at The Block at SM City North Edsa.
This joint partnership of SM and the Filipino Heritage Festival, Inc. featured instruments from the collection of National Artists for Music Lucrecia Kasilag and Ramon Santos, including the Dabakan, Gangsa, and Bandurria. These instruments served as modes of communication during the olden times used to also create classic Filipino folk songs this present times.
This exhibit also featured different photo panels of other traditional musical instruments, giving mallgoers a glimpse of our rich musical tradition.
Another highlight of this exhibit was the performance of the PWU-JASMS Rondalla Group, who mesmerized the audience with their repertoire of Filipino classic folk songs. One of these was the folksong Kukudlong, which was arranged by Dr. Ramon Santos, who also graced the launch.
The Philippine Traditional Musical Instruments Exhibit is one of the many exciting cultural events in SM City North Edsa.
