And he went all-out for it.

Direk 2 Da Poynt, the blockbuster biography and memoir of the late film and TV writer/director Wenn Deramas is now available at National Book Store and Powerbooks nationwide. The book was his labor of love for two full years and the last project he completed right before his sudden passing in late February this year.

“Buong buhay ko ang nasa libro. Lahat ng mga hindi nila alam.” Deramas said in an interview last year. “Lahat ng mga haka-haka nila tungkol sa akin. Pati love life, binigay ko,” he added.

The 153-page book traces the director’s rags-to-riches story, covering everything from his childhood in a single-parent household to his first job as a waiter in a restaurant to his early struggling years in ABS-CBN to his ascent as the country’s top box-office director.

“’Pag nabasa mo ‘yong libro, iiyak ka, tatawa ka… Basta binigay ko kung ano yung pwede kong maitulong sa mga katulad ko na gustong may mapuntahan din. Very inspiring yung libro ko,” he added.

Director Wenn Deramas shared his inspiring story in his last project—a 153-page biography and memoir

In fact, one of the highlights of the book is a collection of 40 nuggets of wisdom about life, career and love from Deramas.

The book also features testimonies about the director from colleagues and close friends like Vice Ganda, Ai-Ai delas Alas and Claudine Barretto. It also contains never-before-seen photos.

“Direk 2 Da Poynt” is published by VRJ Books, the new publishing label of VIVA Communications, Inc.

Other VRJ Books titles are Conversations Pa More, a collection of iconic interviews by veteran entertainment journalist Ricky Lo with some of the country’s top stars; the biggest-selling book in the country this year featuring the hottest multi-media love team, JaDine, Team Real: Your All-Access Pass Into James Reid and Nadine Lustre’s World, and the re-release of Marcelo Santos III’s blockbuster first novel, Para Sa Hopeless Romantic.
