Online gaming firms CC6 and Funbingo conducted a series of outreach activities in Metro Manila in December and early January, including participation in events connected to the Feast of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo.
On Dec. 25, the two companies held a Christmas outreach in the Lawton area, where they distributed cash assistance, meals, and grocery packs to individuals experiencing temporary homelessness, including those staying under bridges.
The companies said the activity was part of a broader set of initiatives carried out throughout December, which also included weekly gift-giving activities for children in various parts of Metro Manila.
As part of their continuing outreach, CC6 and Funbingo are set to take part in the Feast of the Black Nazarene on Jan. 9. During the procession, commonly known as the Traslacion, the groups plan to distribute free food and water to devotees in Quiapo.
The companies said their outreach and Traslacion-related activities have reached more than 15,000 devotees and community members.
Rhen Escaño, brand ambassador for CC6 and Funbingo, said the initiatives were meant to highlight unity and compassion during the Christmas season and religious gatherings.
“The true spirit of Christmas and faith is seen in unity and compassion for others,” Escaño said. “These activities are a way to support those in need and the devotees who continue to show the strength of their faith.”
The Feast of the Black Nazarene draws thousands of devotees annually to Quiapo, with many participants spending long hours along the procession route.
