Finding your inner compass: An invitation to Hayahay with Kimberly

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to lose touch with ourselves. The constant noise of work, expectations, and social media often drowns out our inner voice, leaving us feeling lost and disconnected.

This is where Kimberly Macatangay Pozzi, also known as Lakhaw-Ayan Bituon, steps in. As a meditation teacher and facilitator of the Hayahay Circle, she offers a gentle space for people to pause and reconnect, not through strict teachings, but through an open invitation to come home to themselves.

The name itself is a clue to her philosophy. Lakhaw-Ayan Bituon translates roughly to “wandering star,” a poetic nod to a journey that is both personal and universal. Kimberly is less a distant guru and more a compassionate companion on the path inward. Her own journey through the landscapes of meditation and self-inquiry has equipped her with a deep, practical understanding of how to guide others out of their mental tangles and back to a place of inherent peace.

Her presence is grounding. In a world that prizes intensity and speed, she embodies a different rhythm—one of slowness, acceptance, and profound listening.

At Diwa Siargao, the team offers more than just a vacation—it’s a holistic experience built on sustainability, local connection, and wellness rooted in the island’s culture. Guests are invited to take part in an immersive stay that values community and the preservation of Siargao’s natural beauty.

One of its signature experiences, Diwa’s Hayahay Group Meditation, is a six-week program led by teacher Kimberly. It focuses on deep rest and soul alignment through weekly sessions that blend breathwork, chanting, lana anointing, and sensory meditation. Each session honors a different aspect of the self, helping participants reconnect with their inner peace and clarity.

“Hayahay is a Filipino word for rest and breath, but beyond that, it’s a journey of remembering presence, gratitude, and self-love. A session feels like renewal—releasing negativity and guilt while reconnecting with lightness, energy, and grounding,” Pozzi said.

Hayahay was born from Kimberly’s journey to reconcile her Ivatan heritage with meditation studies abroad and guidance from a Babaylan mentor. She discovered that true clarity is found within, through ancestral Filipino wisdom like Kapwa, the belief in our shared inner self. She now shares this practice globally as a reminder that this deep, healing presence is a universal human inheritance.

“The pito or seven soul vessels, honors the body as more than physical—it holds memory, spirit, and experience. Each vessel (head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, arms, and legs) is acknowledged for its gifts, with coconut oil anointing as a ritual of healing and gratitude. The number seven itself carries sacred meaning in Filipino tradition, symbolizing balance and wholeness,” Pozzi continued.

In a culture that often equates busyness with worth, Hayahay offers a gentle but powerful counterpoint: a return to the basics of breath, body, and present-moment awareness. This approach is not about striving for a perfected state of mind but about honoring oneself exactly as one is.

Diverging from more rigid or austere forms of meditation, Hayahay is intentionally sensory, grounding, and adaptable. By meeting individuals where they are, this practice makes the profound benefits of mindfulness not just accessible but also deeply relevant to the demands of modern, fast-paced life.

At Diwa Siargao, wellness is not a goal to achieve but a rhythm to rediscover—the rhythm of the tide, the rustling palms, and your own steady heart.
