Kultura pop-up connects heritage crafts with today’s style

Actress and entrepreneur Marian Rivera called on Filipinos to take pride in locally made fashion during the launch of Kultura Filipino’s Burda at Habi pop-up on May 8 at the SM Mall of Asia.

The event, which doubled as a meet-and-greet, highlighted traditional Filipino embroidery (burda) and weaving (habi) through contemporary designs.

It brought together artisans, shoppers, and cultural advocates in a shared celebration of Philippine craftsmanship.

“Thank you so much to everyone who came, and of course, to all who support Kultura,” Marian told the crowd during a short program. “I hope we always include Kultura in our list. Let’s love Filipino-made products.”

Kultura’s pop-up featured curated pieces that blended heritage techniques with modern styling, ranging from embroidered barongs and handwoven scarves to intricately crafted handbags and accessories.

Each item carried the story of the communities and artisans behind it

A longtime supporter of local artisans and products, Marian amplified the message of the campaign—that Filipino creativity deserves a permanent place in the local and global fashion scene.

Her presence at the launch underscored the brand’s push to bring burda and habi—crafts often seen as formal or niche—into more accessible and stylish formats.

Beyond showcasing the artistry behind local textiles, Burda at Habi also reinforces Kultura’s mission to support micro, small, and community-based producers across the country.

By giving these artisans a commercial platform, Kultura helps preserve heritage skills while also creating livelihood opportunities.

The pop-up is part of a broader effort to reintroduce younger and more style-conscious audiences to the beauty of Filipino-made goods.

The Burda at Habi pop-up runs until May 20 at Kultura’s SM Mall of Asia branch, with select collections also available in other major stores and online.
