Emille Joson turns style into social storytelling

To further her commitment to using art for “social progress,” Emille Joson is shifting from fashion to filmmaking. She is now extending her influence by turning her focus from style to storytelling. 

Known for her glamorous background and powerful family name, Emille has carved a unique path in the film industry, using her platform to address pressing social issues. As an award-winning filmmaker and humanitarian advocate under the Alaga Producers Cooperative, Emille has gained recognition for her fearless exploration of systemic problems such as government corruption, the struggles of marginalized groups, and violence against women.

Her horror short film Adivino earned critical acclaim for its #MeToo message that addresses the Harvey Weinstein scandal with unflinching candor. The film resonated with Western audiences for its raw depiction of abuse and received nominations at the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival, along with multiple awards at international festivals. 

Celebrations of her success extended to the Asia Pacific Film Institute, where Emille honed her craft, as her work gained traction on streaming platforms.

Hollywood has taken notice. Stars including Lindsay Lohan, Chad Michael Murray, Ashley Greene, the Phelps twins, Tab Murphy, and Maisie Williams have praised Emille, with some joining a surprise virtual podcast to commend her achievements. 

Social media further amplified her influence, attracting followers such as Golden Globe-winning Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall on X, Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino, Mark Read of British boyband A1, and supermodel Rob Evans on Instagram, to name a few.
