The pandemic was undoubtedly a challenging time for everyone. However, some people like Maria Isabelle C. Valentin, a St. John The Baptist Catholic School student, chose to see the positive side of the pandemic. She found a hobby that allowed her to explore beyond her comfort zone.
“It was at the start of the pandemic when we had to quarantine, it was quite scary at first, but it was an open opportunity for people like me to improve and learn new things,” she said. “I started drawing again, as it had been months since I’d drawn something. It was because I’ve found new inspiration to draw again, thanks to the internet with endless possibilities of inspiration.”
According to Valentin, everything progressed from there, and she began noticing improvements in her work. She continued to practice her craft and saw more developments, further encouraging the young artist to pursue this passion.
“I want to become an artist in the future. From a young age, drawing had become such an important part of my life, as well as a gift given to me, which is why I want to pursue my dreams of becoming an artist,” she shared.
Valentin added that she’s still improving her skill to unlock her potential fully. But, for now, she has her imagination and lets it run wild for her next artwork.
‘Nimfa’
Nimfa is a mountain spirit sitting on Clear Quartz, a stone with powerful restorative and healing properties. She keeps the mountain alive and well, making sure that no one can harm the creatures that await the visitors.
As she does so, she watches the butterflies flutter their colorful wings and the birds chirp in a calming melody.
