There will be days when a situation calls for some drinks, be it your favorite wine, beer, gin, or what have you. If you find yourself wanting to have a glass or two, with company or solo, at the comfort of your home or out in your favorite bar in Poblacion, Makati, or wherever, I got you a couple of suggestions for new drinks to try.

Japan’s Suntory pours a new gin

Home to some award-winning liquors, Japanese brand Suntory pours a new gin that might just be perfect for any and every meal. Japan-made SUI Gin, created with a combination of botanicals such as yuzu, green tea, and ginger, recently arrived at the Philippine market. Made with traditional gin botanicals combined with juniper berry, coriander seed, angelica root, cardamom, cinnamon, bitter orange peel, and lemon peel, this gin gives you an astounding result that is clear, refreshing, and pairs well with any type of dish.

SUI Soda with calamansi and pandan

SUI Gin is of rich heritage – hailing from the same Suntory Osaka plant that gifted the world with Hermes Gin in 1936 and Roku Gin in 2017. The creation and perfection of SUI Gin are based on more than 100 years of Suntory’s expertise in creating quality spirits. It takes its name SUI   from the Kingfisher; and on the bottle, the bold Kanji character is inked by master calligrapher Tansetsu Ogino. Kanji , which means Jade, is a nod to its tall hexagonal shape reflecting clear and beautiful blue-green accents that speak of Suntory’s hope that SUI will spread its wings and soar high in the gin market.

Here are a few tips for the perfect SUI Gin serve. To savor the refreshing taste of SUI Gin, the perfect combination and ratio are important. The classic recommended way to serve SUI Gin is a simple mix of soda water to let SUI’s delicate flavor shine through. All you need to do is fill a highball glass with ice, add SUI Gin, top it off with chilled soda water in the ratio of 1:4, stir well and enjoy.

Another option is the SUI Sonic — for depth and complexity, add a splash of tonic water. You can also do your own concoction. Tip: Add a squeeze of lemon, a tablespoon of yuzu juice, raw grated ginger, or green tea. For more unique flavors, get trendy by adding crushed plum, wasabi, shiso leaves, or frozen oranges.

SUI Sonic has more depth and complexity in its flavor

SUI Gin is now available in S&R stores nationwide and coming soon at your nearest supermarkets and liquor stores, as well as GrabMart, Lazada, Boozy, and Boozeshop.

Something unexpectedly smooth: New Heineken® Silver comes to PH

If beer is your game, you might want to try this latest brewing addition from Heineken, the Heineken Silver, a smooth, easy-to-drink, and light-tasting beer that is perfect for those nights of easy talks or socializing at your favorite bar or pub.

Heineken Silver follows the footsteps of the brand’s iconic original—brewed by seasoned master brewers using simple, natural ingredients, including Heineken’s famous A-yeast and quality pure malt, as well as sustainably-sourced barley that supports Heineken’s wider commitments to Brew a Better World. To create the smooth Heineken Silver taste, its brewing process includes ensuring that every bottle has the perfect ratio of flavors, resulting in a balanced, less bitter taste.

Heineken® is one of the world’s leading developers and marketers of premium beer and cider brands. Led by the Heineken brand, the Group has a portfolio of more than 300 international, regional, local, and specialty beers and ciders. It has a well-balanced geographic footprint with leadership positions in both developed and developing markets.

“At Heineken, we are always looking to bring products to the market that match the needs of our consumers. With the changing drinking culture within the Philippines, we are seeing drinkers wanting a beer that matches the smooth and easy-to-drink moments, that allow them to enjoy and celebrate time with friends and family,” says Michael Vainio, Heineken Philippines Country Manager, during its recent launching at The Fifth at Rockwell in Makati City.

“Heineken Silver has been perfectly designed for these moments, delivering a smooth and easy-to-drink beer that can be enjoyed in a variety of different settings, where people come together to celebrate real and fun connections together,” Vainio adds.

The event was hosted by actor and TV personality KC Montero and radio personality Tony Toni, while Mars Miranda – one of Manila’s favorite DJs – took care of the after-party. Heineken Silver is available for purchase for 18 years old and up in both on and off-trade retail channels. It comes in 330ml cans and bottles as well as 500ml cans.

These are just a couple of recos from an occasional consumer of gin and tonic as well as beer. And of course, here’s me reminding all you adults that when it comes to drinking alcoholic beverages, let’s keep it at a moderate level.

Cheers!
