Filipino team triumphs at international business case competitions

In March, undergraduate business students from Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) won six international case competitions at both the undergraduate and MBA level. 

Ateneo Management Engineering students Reich Tiamson and Leila Clemente ranked first in the American University in Cairo International Undergraduate Business Case Competition (March 5 to 6) as well as the Macewan University Undergraduate Case Competition (March 26), outperforming teams from around the world in their respective finals, including top-tier undergraduate teams from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, New York University and the University of North Carolina from the USA, École libre des Sciences Politiques, University of Lyons, and the University of Eindhoven from Europe, and the Universities of Alberta, Calgary, and Edmonton from Canada.

The team also garnered first runners-up in four international business competitions at the MBA level, competing in the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode Finance Case Competition (March 3 to 14), Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur Consulting Case Competition (March 12 to 24), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay Marketing Case Competition (March 13 to 26), and the University of Delhi Rajguru Business Case Competition (March 1 to 5), where they outperformed top-ranking MBA teams from the Indian School of Business, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, and Lucknow from the Asia-Pacific region. 

During this streak of competition placements, the team tackled cases from a diverse set of industries including fintech, e-commerce, and food tech, presenting innovative solutions which included international market expansion strategies, IPO financial valuations, and branding pivot strategies to judges from esteemed companies and universities from around the world including the Boston Consulting Group, Goldman-Sachs, the Central Bank of Egypt, Royal Bank of Canada, and Lancaster University.
