The journey of trusting the process

How skin doctor Kaycee Reyes became a purveyor of holistic wellness

“I liked it! At five, I already experienced dissecting a lizard,” Dr. Kaycee Reyes turned giggly as she spoke about blood and revealed not having the common fear of it as a young girl. Doc Kaycee, as she is fondly called, was on the road, accompanying her son for a visit to the pediatrician, when we had our video interview. That’s how I have always seen her – a woman-on-the-go who balances her career and her wife and mommy duties.

Roughly three years ago, I had my first consultation with Doc Kaycee in her chic and cozy clinic at The Podium. More than her bedimpled smile and glass-like skin, which I quickly studied while she was speaking, I was struck by the dermatologist’s warmth and confidence. I was impressed even more when, after years of several attempts to address what I considered stains on my cheeks, she easily zapped them away in a few minutes. It helped a lot that Doc Kaycee was able to properly identify what other dermatologists and I thought were simply freckles or sun spots. “Those are actually Hori’s nevus,” I will never forget her saying.

Skin doctor Kaycee Reyes

Passion shines through when Doc Kaycee explains skin conditions and even how her top-of-the-line machines function. During her media launches, quick 101s are staple, complete with audio-visual presentations to make media guests and regular patients understand the services being offered.

Her energy is telling that Doc Kaycee is living out a childhood dream. “When I was 5, I already wanted to be a doctor because I was exposed to some doctors. We lived in a compound just beside the hospital owned by my uncle,” she confirmed my hunch.

Doc Kaycee added that she was drawn to the dignified look of medical practitioners in white and the sight of so many patients lining up for their services. She channeled her interest in the field by helping dispense medicines in their family-owned pharmacy as a kid.

As a skin doctor, Kaycee is passionate about discussing skin conditions and treatments

Decades after, Doc Kaycee pursued medicine and even considered working with kids. A short stint in pediatrics, though, made her realize that she wanted something else. Feeling lost and wanting to discover her true calling, Doc Kaycee began exploring other options and she was later led to traditional and alternative medicine. Her accidental assignments and projects in the field equipped her with enough knowledge to redefine the standard of beauty she is advocating today. “To look well, you have to be well,” she would repeatedly say.

Doc Kaycee is a graduate of the University of Sto. Tomas Faculty of Medicine & Surgery, completed her Diploma in Dermatology from the King’s College in London, and received a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Dermatology from St. John’s Institute of Dermatology at Guy’s & St. Thomas Hospital, also in the United Kingdom. She then became a visiting fellow in Dermatologic Laser Surgery both in Thailand and in Singapore, where she accrued her expertise on lasers, a trademark treatment of Luminisce, the skin clinic she founded ten years ago.

As she nurtures her love for learning and self-growth, Doc Kaycee recently completed her Master of Science degree in Preventive and Regenerative Medicine at Dresden International University in Germany. That makes her an expert in Well-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. This specialization led to the creation of Luminisce’s preventive medicine branch, Sol Revive.

One thing just led to another. Doc Kaycee’s advocacy of promoting holistic wellness is rooted in just simply trusting the process.

Kaycee’s energy and glow show her career as a fulfillment of a childhood dream

“To give optimum results, we combine aesthetic treatments with preventive regenerative medicine practices,” she proudly said, highlighting her clinic’s distinct one-stop-shop edge over other competitors in the market.

Life coaching, customized nutrition,  and individualized body and fitness solutions are just some of the non-traditional services being offered by Luminisce to achieve overall wellness. As an adjustment to what is now observed as the New Normal, the clinic has created home-kit alternatives to well-loved procedures. Doc Kaycee also went out of her comfort zone and launched a Youtube channel.

With this strategy, the celebrity doctor literally goes beyond skin deep. She targets elevating not only the quality of one’s skin but also of one’s life.
