On New Year’s resolutions or simplifying it

I’m not one to make a long list of New Year’s resolutions because I know I’m bound to fail a few if not most of them.

Engaging in outdoor yoga is another way to live a healthier lifestyle in 2022.

This year, I’m skipping the list. Or better yet, I’m simplifying it. By simplifying I meant trimming it down to a few that matters most to me.

Last year, I told myself that I will try to live each day in a more conscious manner than I used to in the previous years. I intend to continue doing that. I will not make grand promises that might just be meant to be broken.

This year is about taking it one day at a time. It’s about healing, listening, and fine-tuning the areas in my life that need more attention and improvement. It’s about being attuned to the needs of others and how I can be of help. Most of all, it’s about being grateful for everyday blessings.

I started the new year on a positive note, having just joined a company I highly believe in. It’s also a new industry for me to navigate. Already I am excited as I learned in the “new employee orientation” that the company truly cares not just for the employees’ career but also their overall wellbeing.

This year, for me, is also about making healthier choices. One of the wellness programs the company offers are clubs for various interests that I find exciting. Personally, I am looking forward to joining the track and field club.

The author enjoys a post-exercise rest at a park. One of her goals, this 2022 and beyond, is to live a healthier lifestyle than all the years prior.

If you’re like me, there’s no need to be so hard on yourself by making a long list of resolutions, considering also that we’re all still dealing with the pandemic that limits us all in many ways. However, if it works for you, then my kudos goes to you.

As for me, aside from the above-mentioned aspirations, I shall go onward with what I have started last year, which is to continuously let go of the material possessions I don’t actually need or use. I’m still not comfortable calling my pursuit as minimalism because honestly, I still have a lot to purge, and it’s going to be a long way until I get there. But the key is to continue doing it until I can finally and fully embrace the minimalist lifestyle.

The minimalist lifestyle is about living with only the things you need.

Simply put: this 2022, let’s try to live a more conscious and sustainable lifestyle, taking it one day at a time. Cheers to us all!
