Dining under the stars

These days, when it looks like we’re finally on our way back to normalcy, it still is very important for us to be mindful of the government’s health and safety protocols, just to be sure that we don’t experience another surge in infections.

We know that many countries abroad, especially those in Europe, are now in a quandary as to how to suppress those sharp spikes in their daily cases of infections which, hopefully, will serve as a warning to all of us, that the virus is still very much around.

We have to continue wearing a mask, avoid crowded places and, if we must share a meal with other people, i.e., friends and relatives, it is best to do it in an al fresco setting.

The times that I have gone out for a meal lately, I look for an open-air restaurant, because it makes me feel “safer” when I take off my mask to partake of the food as, I’m sure, you do, too.

Guest have a choice of enjoying their sumptuous Samgyeopsal meal under any of the creatively designed Teepees.

The good news is that we now have a “new” destination to add to our list of “safe” dining venues.

Century Park Hotel now offers a unique open-air banquet experience at its Palm Grove, where customers can relish the relaxing poolside ambience while dining and enjoying their favorite beverage under the stars.

In a tastefully designed tropical setting, with decorative lights and Instagrammable features, the hotel’s Al Fresco by Palm Grove is guaranteed to dazzle any jaded diner who has “seen it all.”

Customers enter the venue through an awe-inspiring Tunnel of Love, which can easily re-charge any tired soul into a party mood.  Then, there is the giant Bird Cage which has become a favorite of customers for selfies.

Century Park Hotel’s Palm Grove presents a relaxing
poolside ambience.

There are also the art walls by the bar which provide the perfect backdrop for memorable photo ops, and the masterfully crafted giant Teepees which offer comfortable seating for customers to enjoy their meal while ensuring a unique setting for treasured photo moments. For lovers and couples who might want to feel again the excitement of being romantic, as they enjoy their meal, there is the Love Locks corner where they can purchase a pair of padlocks and leave it there to poetically signify their true love and commitment to each other.

This unique, easy-on-the-pocket dining package of Century Park Hotel comes with a sumptuous Samgyeopsal experience of unlimited meats (US short beef plate, US short ribs, Pork Belly Strips, and Marinated Pork Neck), one glass of beer or cocktail, side dishes, and one S’mores set.  Seasonal items to watch are Hungarian Sausages, Wienerli, Cheesy Franks, Assorted Taiwanese Balls, and Mozzarella Cheese Dip.

Of course, there are also the popular a la carte items of Wings and Dips, Smoke Baby Back Ribs, Maldivian Grilled Blue Marlin, Mixed Seafood, Meat Grill Platter, and many more.
Al Fresco by Palm Grove is available only on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and only for those who are fully vaccinated (at least two weeks after the second dose) or have taken an RT-PCR test 48 hours prior to the visit.

Since seats and tables are limited, reservations are required through 8528-8888 local 2500 or 0956-5232880.  It is quite reassuring to know that Century Park Hotel has been given the Safety Seal Certification by the Department of Tourism and all of its staff have been fully vaccinated.

With the relaxed quarantine guidelines and aggressive efforts of the government and private sector to secure vaccinations for everyone, General Manager Anthony Tan is optimistic that more people are in the mood to experience once again the things they used to do before the pandemic set in.

Considering the precarious condition this thriving virus has put us all in, we know we want to enjoy life once again, yet safety should still be foremost in our minds, thus, dining under the stars would be the way to do it…and Samgyeopsal at that!  Definitely a good way to welcome 2022…HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
