The National Competiveness Council has placed Bacolod at the eighth spot among the country’s top Most Competitive Cities during the 6th Competitiveness Summit and Awards.
Bacolod secured the highest ranking among Visayan cities that qualified for the award.
The “City of Smiles” was also listed the third Most Improved Highly Urbanized City after moving up from the 20th spot last year.
“Our local officials are inspired to do their best in bringing the city to greater heights and are appealing to all Bacolodnons to ride on this growth momentum,” said Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
The top 10 most competitive HUCs are as follows: Quezon, Manila, Pasay, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Makati, Pasig, Bacolod, Cebu, and Muntinlupa.
The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry earlier recognized Bacolod as one of the top national finalists in its recent “Most Business-Friendly City” search.
Also this year, Bacolod was identified as one of the 4 fastest-growing cities in the country for “property searches,” by Lamudi, an online real estate marketplace with operations in 34 countries.
