Aksyon Demokratiko, the political party led by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, is fielding more local candidates to run for various posts in Quezon City in 2022.
Joining the party are former Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board member and councilor Ariel Inton; ex-councilor Jaime Borres; ex-councilor and television host Joseph Peter “Jopet” Sison; ex-councilor Dante de Guzman; Apple Francisco, Councilor
Allan Butch Francisco’s sister; ex-assistant secretary Rommel Abesamis of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and Jun de Leon, Laban TNVS president.
James Ibanez, actress Melissa Mendez, and broadcast journalists Doland Castro and Gani Oro also took their oaths as new members of Aksyon Demokratiko.
Meanwhile, a source told the Manila Standard that Moreno’s national headquarters for his presidential bid is located within the Victoria Towers on Timog Avenue, Quezon City. The property reportedly belongs to the New San Jose Builders Inc., a big-time developer believed to be close to a Belmonte scion.
Moreno is said to enjoy the support of former executive secretary Paquito Ochoa who served the administration of the late President Benigno Aquino III. Ochoa is the former city administrator of former Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr.
‘Environrmentalist’ seeks QC post
Lynda Araneta, a self-proclaimed environmentalist, is an early bird in the filing of candidacy with the Commission on Elections to run for mayor in Quezon City.
She claimed to belong to the Partidong Philippines-Green Republika Party.
When asked by media, Araneta said she wanted to provide shelter for the homeless, send children to school, wipe out drug abuse among the youth, and push for environmental reforms in the city.
However, she said she still believes incumbent Mayor Joy Belmonte has the capability to run the affairs of Quezon City. If elected a mayor, she said an international scientist would help lead the city.
