First Healthtek Swab Station now in Ermita

The Philippines’ first and only biotech company in diagnostics, Manila Healthtek Inc., opens a COVID-19 Swab Station at the Palacio de Manila parking lot in Barangay 699, MH Del Pilar Street, in Ermita, Manila.

The remote testing site will offer the Department of Health-accredited COVID-19 RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction) test for only P 2,950 per test. It will start on April 21, 2021, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

“We want to bring accurate and rapid testing at a lower cost closer to the people. With the current surge of cases we are experiencing, testing is very crucial. The more we test, the more we get ahead of this fight,” said Raul Destura, founder and CEO of MTek.

The site was chosen by MTek to aid employees of manpower agencies servicing land-based and sea-based Filipino workers who are required to provide negative COVID-19 test results for their employment, which is also open to the community.

MTek made headlines last year for developing the Philippines’ very own RT-PCR kit, GenAmplifly, under the leadership of Destura, a multi-awarded microbiologist and infectious disease specialist.
