QC patient with UK strain tests negative

A COVID-19 patient earlier detected with the UK variant and who stayed in Quezon City has now tested negative with the virus, Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

She said the patient will continue to stay at the Hope quarantine facility.

“He was also reswabbed and as of yesterday (Thursday), I’m happy to report to the public that he tested negative,” she told the CNN Philippines in an interview.

She said the patient was asymptomatic.

“But currently, he is still in our facility awaiting instructions from our City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit,” she added.

She said the city government plans to file a complaint against the Baltic Asia Crewing manning agency next week for not reporting that the patient, an overseas worker, had COVID-19.
