The Taguig City government has started distributing the P3,000 Gratuity Pay to its Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) employees for their government service amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The gratuity pay was granted to COS and JO workers based on their length of service in the city.

COS and JO workers who rendered service for two months to less than three months received P1,000, while those who have rendered service for three months or more received P2,000, and those who have rendered service for four months or more received P3,000.

As COS and JO workers do not have employee-employer relationships, the benefits regular employees such as Government Service Insurance System, PAG-IBIG, and other incentives are not available to them.

Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano said the local government recognizes the integral role of more than 5,000 JO and COS workers in the effective implementation of programs, projects, and activities of the city.

“Our COS and JO employees played a huge part in the implementation of our programs, projects, and activities. Lalo na sa kasagsagan ng 2020 kung kailan talagang naging agresibo ang pag-prevent at pag-suppress ng COVID-19 sa lungsod,” said Cayetano.

The city chief executive extends his heartfelt gratitude to all government workers for their effort in making Taguig consistently among the cities with the lowest active cases in the country.

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has even cited Taguig as a ‘model city’ in terms of cooperation, unity, and execution while developing effective programs in combating COVID-19.

In March 2020, the city government also distributed COVID-19 Hazard Pay to all employees who reported to work while the Enhanced Community Quarantine was in full implementation.
