After extending twice the deadlines for payment of local taxes, the City Government of Navotas granted refunds for those who incurred penalties for late payment.
Mayor Toby Tiangco signed City Ordinance 2020-45 granting tax refund to taxpayers who have paid surcharges, penalties and interests on all local taxes and fees due and assessed from September 14, 2020 until the effectivity of the ordinance.
“Most of our constituents are still reeling from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to ease their burden and help them in every possible way,” Tiangco said.
Taxpayers who are due tax refund may coordinate with the City Treasurer’s Office at the 2nd floor of Navotas City Hall.
City Ordinance 2020-45 is in accordance with the Department of Finance Circular No. 003-2020, stating that payment of all local taxes, fees and charges falling on or after September 14, 2020 shall be extended until December 19, 2020 without interest, surcharge, or penalty.
Earlier, Navotas passed City Ordinance Nos. 2020-25 and 2020-35 deferring the payment of real property tax, business tax, and transfer tax.
