Senator Cynthia Villar initiated the distribution of face shields to Las Pinas residents and workers to enhance their protection against the new coronavirus disease.
Villar sourced more than 6,000 face shields and with the help of barangay leaders and community volunteers, distributed the personal protective equipment to all 20 barangays of Las Pinas City and nearby barangays of Cavite.
Employees, farm workers, biomen, street sweepers, waste collectors, traffic aides, barangay tanod and policemen also received face shields from the senator.
“As we ease quarantine restrictions, we should always remind the people to wear face masks and face shields as well as to practice physical distancing and hand hygiene. These PPEs, which are now available and affordable, will protect our people as they move around the community and earn a living for their families,” Villar said.
Villar also noted that the wearing of face shields in addition to face masks was now part of the strategy to significantly reduce transmission of COVID-19 in the community.
Aside from requiring their customers to fill up a health check form, there are establishments that also require the wearing of face masks and face shields before allowing entry into their premises.
