Taguig residents urged to avail free PCR testing

The Taguig City government on Thursday urged residents to avail of its free COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing at health centers from Monday to Friday, the regular drive-thru testing every Wednesday at Bonifacio Global City, and every Thursday at Lakeshore in Lower Bicutan.

As of September 3, the Taguig City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU) and Barangay Health Centers already conducted 40,024 PCR tests thru the Systematic, Mass Approach Responsible Testing (SMART) program.

“As Taguig City continues the battle against COVID-19, it is crucial for the local government to identify positive cases in order to have them undergo quarantine, cease the spread, and recover from coronavirus,” said Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano.

On Thursday, the local government recorded 92 new confirmed COVID-19 cases COVID-19 and 203 recoveries. It has a total of 5,090 confirmed cases. Of these number, 442 are active cases. The city also reported 44 deaths and 4,604 recoveries.

The new cases came from Barangays Bagumbayan (1), Bambang (2), Ibayo (8), Lower Bicutan (7), New Lower Bicutan (4), Napindan (1), Sta Ana (2), Ususan (6), Central Bicutan (8), Central Signal (5), Fort Bonifacio (8), Katuparan (5), Maharlika (1), North Daang Hari (1), North Signal (2), Pinagsama (10), South Signal (1), Tanyag (2), Upper Bicutan (12), and Western Bicutan (6).

Meanwhile, Mayor Cayetano reminded his constituents about the protocols for Mandatory Reporting of COVID-19 Cases.

“All residents, homeowners and condominium associations, employees, employers, business owners, property managers, mall administrators, government offices and agencies, and other private and public establishments in Taguig must follow these protocols,” he said.
