Application forms for online sellers’ pass to enable applicants to deliver their products to Navotas City while the city is under the 14-day lockdown are still pending and have not been signed by Mayor Toby Tiangco.

According to the mayor, he understood the need for his constituents to have a job despite the pandemic to provide for their families, but he said it should be balanced with the goal of limiting the movement of people to prevent the spread of the infectious virus.

Tiangco added the online sellers in Navotas must always have the original copy of their DTI or business permit and must be presented tothe assigned policemen for them not to be detained.

As for the lack of DTI and business permits, the mayor assured that online selling would continue, as there are assigned “Navohatid Delivery Riders” of each barangay, which will deliver the product to the houses.

"Just coordinate with the barangay halls where the products will be delivered and it will definitely reach the destination," said Tiangco.

According to the local chief executive, if there was not enough reason to go out, it is better to just stay indoors and not put themselves at risk of being caught or infected with the virus because their families might also be at risk.

“Our goal is to reduce the COVID-19 cases in Navotas so that people can work or study without fear of getting sick. We cannot do this without sacrifice so I ask for understanding and solidarity, ”said the mayor.

The lockdown in Navotas City began on July 16, 2020 and will end on July 29, 2020.
