Police have arrested three Chinese nationals and raided an establishment suspected to be involved in a prostitution racket in Makati City.
The suspects—Zhang Yong, 48; Lai Jin Cheng Yuan, 29, and Yin Yuan Sheng, 33—were nabbed during the raid at JKL Bldg. Guanzon Street in Barangay Poblacion, Makati City.
Based on the report released by the Southern Police District, the suspects offered P100,000 bribe to Makati City Police Station chief investigator Maj. Gideon Ines and asked him not to file a case against them.
Ines’ team responded on the information that the building (JKL) was being utilized as a prostitution den operated and maintained by the foreigners.
Around 4 p.m. last Tuesday, the authorities swooped down on the eighth floor of the building and confirmed information that the place was being used for sex trafficking.
Several condoms and other sex paraphernalia were also found at the establishment during the police operation.
On orders of Mayor Abigail Binay, the Makati City police was conducting series of coordinated raids targeting syndicates engaged in prostitution and other vices at multiple locations, including at condominiums, hotels, massage parlors and residential units.
The police said they would continue to work with the community on information related to vice activities, and would take tough enforcement action against those involved.
Binay had directed the city’s Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) to shut down establishments and entertainment spots in the city that engage in prostitution whether direct or via the internet.
Binay said: “There is no room for prostitution in Makati. We will hunt down prostitution dens, karaoke bars, spas, condominiums, and even computer shops that exploit young men and women in the sex trade.
“We will shut down your operations and make sure that you are unable to do business in Makati. I will say this again, illegal activities are not welcome here.”
Just recently, Binay ordered the closure of a KTV bar inside a hotel near the city’s Central Business District, also for alleged sex trafficking. Two Taiwanese nationals were arrested for operating the alleged prostitution den.
