The City Government of Navotas Thursday passed ordinances extending the deadline of payment of business and realty taxes as well as registration of select private and public utility vehicles.

City Ordinance No. 2020-07 extended the deadline for the payment of the first installment of basic real property tax, special education fund tax, and/or idle land tax due on real properties from March 31, 2020 to May 31, 2020.

Payment of the second quarterly installment of business taxes has been moved from April 20, 2020 to May 31, 2020.

Furthermore, the payment deadline for the transfer tax on real property ownership, wherein the date of the execution of deed or the date of the property owner’s death happened from January 17, 2020 onwards, shall be extended to May 31, 2020.

Meanwhile, City Ordinance No. 2020-08 allows owners of motorized tricycles, pedicabs, and jeeps with plate numbers ending in 7, 8, 9 and 0 to register their respective franchises until May 31, 2020, two months from its original schedule of March 31, 2020.

City Ordinance No. 2020-09, on the other hand, moved the deadline for owners of private or public motorized tricycle and pedicab to secure registration plates from March 31, 2020 to May 31, 2020.

“We understand that it is crucial for our people to stay home and be safe. We don’t want them to worry about looming payment deadlines and risk violating home quarantine to pay for their dues,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

“We hope the extension will give them the reprieve they need. We at the city government will always look out for the welfare of each of our constituents,” he added.

Earlier, Tiangco also lifted the limited ban on trucks along C3, R10 and North Bay Boulevard. All trucks may now pass along the aforementioned roads any time of the day.
