Makati padlocks 3 biz operating without permits

Three more establishments in Makati City were ordered closed on charges of human trafficking and for operating without business permits.

Moon of Paris KTV, Andy T. Cafe, and Azito Lounge, occupying different floors of a building at 7373 Bakawan Street in Barangay San Antonio, were padlocked by personnel of the city’s Business Permit and Licensing Office.

The closure order came on the heels of a raid of an inter-agency operation led by Makati City police station last Sunday.

A total of 112 individuals, including 75 Filipino KTV workers, were arrested during the police operation.

Police received a tip alleging human trafficking operations in the three establishments.

Investigation showed that both Moon of Paris and Andy T. Cafe had expired business licenses and individual health permits, while Azito Lounge had no business permit at all.

The city government earlier padlocked a hotel after authorities discovered that the establishment engaged in sex trafficking foreign women.

On orders of Mayor Abigail Binay, BPLO men closed down Golden Dragon Star Premium Hotel in Barangay Pio del Pilar for violating Republic Act No. 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 and Section 4A of the Revised Makati Revenue Code or operating without a business permit.

Police raided the establishment and arrested three Chinese nationals”• Kevin Sy, 25; Xiao Lo, 23; and Tong Po, 25.

The authorities also rescued 13 other foreigners”•two Russians, two Vietnamese and nine Chinese women”•allegedly employed as sex workers.
