The local government of Muntinlupa is set to donate P3 million in financial assistance to Batangas towns affected by Taal Volcano’s eruption and has started packing relief goods to be distributed to evacuees.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi endorsed the donation for the municipalities of Talisay, Laurel and Agoncillo, Batangas to aid the victims’ recovery and rehabilitation.
The City Council enacted and approved an ordinance for the financial aid on Tuesday.
Fresnedi called for the public to continue to stand in prayer for the safety of affected families in Batanga, and encouraged city residents to participate in donation drives.
The local Social Services Department have started packing relief packs including canned goods, water, rice, and other non-food items.
Muntinlupa Social Services Department chief Analyn Mercado said the City Government is also accepting any kind of donations at Muntinlupa Resiliency Building (Hall of Justice Compound) in Brgy. Tunasan or Annex Building, Muntinlupa City Hall.

On Monday, Muntinlupa sent a group of health workers and emergency services staff were sent to Talisay, Batangas to assist in the ongoing rescue and relief operations.
Muntinlupa City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Erwin Alfonso is closely coordinating with Region IV-A officials in providing services to affected local government units.
Muntinlupa Environmental Sanitation Center and other barangay government have started cleaning operations in major thoroughfares and secondary roads in the city. Street sweepers and other emergency responders were advised to use masks during operations.
ESC earlier released an advisory to refrain from using water in cleaning ash deposits and dumping volcanic ash residue to drainages and bodies of water.
More than 36,000 pieces of face masks were also purchased by the City Government and distributed to communities in local barangay health centers.
