The local government of Taguig City unveiled over the weekend a state-of-the-art Mobile Command and Control Vehicle (MOCCOV) designed to manage and coordinate material and manpower resources during emergencies.
Developed through collaborative funding from Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Filipino-invented vehicle aims to enhance disaster response capabilities.
Equipped with advanced surveillance and communication systems such as a satellite phone, monitors, portable WiFi, laptop, two-way radio communication, CCTV, and a weather monitoring station, the MOCCOV is capable of gathering real-time data and providing situational awareness during disasters.
The vehicle enhances the efficiency and coordination of emergency response as it can be quickly deployed as a command center. This allows for immediate coordination among emergency units such as the police, fire department, medical, and utilities, for effective disaster management.
The MOCCOV also features a conference room for disaster managers to strategize and coordinate efforts, as well as facilities for rescue and disaster personnel such as rest areas, a kitchen, and a portalet. During large public events like concerts, the vehicle is a central hub for security, traffic control, and crowd management.
The MOCCOV is also a mobile medical and rescue unit with a triage center and complete rescue gear for efficient on-site medical aid and rescue operations. Its power supply includes gas, solar, and wind systems, ensuring over three days of continuous operation without external electricity, crucial for maintaining operations during power outages in disaster-prone areas.
