Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Thursday said the city government has already met the Department of Trade and Industry’s “7-to-8 minute” requirement in obtaining an occupancy permit.

In a Facebook post, Belmonte said an occupancy permit could be released within five to eight minutes as part of the city’s improved processes in obtaining permits in accordance with the Ease of Doing Business Act.

“I am elated to let you know that we have already achieved the ‘7-8 minute’ requirement. You can now secure such permit in just five to eight minutes,” she said.

The city government is regularly coordinating with the DTI to further improve its business processes in its efforts to entice investors to make Quezon City their preferred investment destination.

The DTI designated Quezon City as a “pilot city” for the implementation of Republic Act No. 11032 or the Anti-Red Tape Act.

“ARTA is important to me, especially I have to push for good governance,” Belmonte said.
