Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Wednesday called for the dismissal of a police precinct commander after accidentally stepping on human feces while conducting an inspection at the Andres Bonifacio monument beside the Manila City Hall.

The mayor was disgusted to see the area where the national hero’s statue—depicted holding a sword to lead the charge against foreign invaders—was littered not only with trash but with feces.

“O ayan may tae, naapakan ko pa! (Oh, there’s sh*t. I stepped on it!”) Domagoso said over a television interview.

“Who’ll be lucky [to step on feces]?  Who will get rich? The sh*t. I hit it,” Moreno said.

After the inspection, Moreno called Manila Police District Chief Vicente Danao to recommend the relief of Police Lt. Rowel Robles, Police Community Precinct commander at the Lawton district in Manila.

The mayor also inspected the shrine of national hero, Emilio Jacinto, nearby.

Moreno said this was not the way our heroes should be treated, by way of ignoring it and letting the area become a public toilet. He also noticed the graffiti on the Bonifacio monument.

While conducting the inspection, the Manila chief executive, wearing a white polo barong, smelled something fishy, which he said was very unpleasant odor.

“This is too much. This place was desecrated. It smells of urine,” Moreno said.
