At least 280 student graduates in Quezon City have completed technical-vocational courses under the special training for employment program of the city government.

Saying those who have passed any technical-vocational courses have jobs waiting for them, Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte led the recent graduation ceremony at the Robinsons Novaliches.

“I am proud of all of you because, with technical and vocational skills training, there are no limitations. Now you know that you can study as much as you can and generate as many skills as you want to, whether as a mechanic, massage therapist, make-up artist, or cook,” Belmonte said.

The vice mayor said the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, through the city’s skills and livelihood training center, is offering various skills trainings to help reduce poverty.

In her speech, Belmonte called on graduates not to think that technical-vocational education is any less than a college education due to its versatility and relevance to the latest skills required by companies and customers.
