Estrada lauds 1k graduates of MMDC tack

Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada lauded the new batch of 1,013 graduates of various courses offered by the city government to start their own businesses, a project under the Manila Manpower Development Center (MMDC).

Estrada also expressed his admirations to the new graduates of baking, beauty care, bed sheet and pillow case making, cooking and food processing, curtain making, food and beverage, hotel and restaurant services, housekeeping, massage therapy, throw pillow making, and unisex haircutting.

They received their certificates of completion during the graduation ceremony held in San Andres Sports Complex, in Manila on Friday.

“Manila has the highest rate of poverty incidence and the most number of jobless individuals. This program is just part of our unending efforts to provide you with all your needs to find a job or start up your own businesses,” the mayor said.

“I am so impressed that the participants, in spite of their age, promptly took up our offer for various courses at the Manila Manpower Development Center for 20 days,” the Manila Chief Executive said during the simple ceremony.

“I salute them for their intention to improve their lives and give inspirations to the out of school youths being provided by the city government,” Estrada said.

The project, under the slogan “Bata At Matanda, Alaga Sa Maynila,” are welcome to participate in the project.

“In short, it’s never too late to learn something new,” Estrada said.

The program, graduates can avail of the P5,000 loan to start their own small businesses, Estrada said.

The former President now Manila Executive also expressed his gratitude to the Manila Department Of Social Welfare, under the leadership of Nanette Tanyag.

The project has been made accessible to all, including children from poor families in the city.

The city government has invested millions in modernizing its facilities and expanding its course offerings to keep abreast of prevailing trends in the workplace.
