THE Quezon City government through the Office of the Vice Mayor will once again host the longest running and one-of-a-kind environmental musical event called “Earth Day Jam” at Quezon Memorial Circle on Saturday.

Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte said the 18th edition of annual live concert promises a bigger and brighter production with over 100 artists and musicians performing alongside distinguished environmental conservationists and resource speakers.

“We are quite proud that Earth Day Jam has returned to Quezon City, one of its original roots. Together let us enjoy great music and at the same time urge everyone to be part of global efforts to take care of Mother Earth,” she said.

The live concert is held yearly as part of April 22 worldwide celebration of Earth Day.

This year’s celebration will start at 5 p.m. and is free to the public.

Apart from being the host and one of the major sponsors of the event, the Office of the Vice Mayor is its lead organizer.

According to Belmonte, she has gathered resource speakers from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Climate Change Commission, Earthday Network Philippines, Green Convergence, other government agencies and private institutions to lecture about environmental protection.

She said she will also be presenting the “GAIA” Awards to various environmental luminaries in the field of art, governance, literature and academe.

About 120 youth leaders and children of solo parents in the city will also take their oath before Belmonte pledging to be part of the campaign of the city government to protect the environment.
