QUEZON City Mayor Herbert Bautista has led the launch of the Quezon City Police District’s integrated command and control center, designed to boost the city’s crime surveillance and prevention capability.

Bautista said the QCPD is the country’s first police district to develop a comprehensive integrated command and control center with an individual surveillance and communication system per police station, a solar hybrid emergency power backup system, a modern private communication facility, digital mobile radio network infrastructure, and a global positioning system for fleet management.

Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa joined Bautista and QCPD director Guillermo Eleazar during the launch held on the QCPD’s 78th founding anniversary in Camp Karingal.

Touted as the benchmark for future facilities of the PNP and other agencies, the QC center shall also be integrated with other information and communication technology devices, such as police body-worn cameras that shall be directly connected to the command center, allowing real-time transmission of video feeds captured during police operations, in a bid to promote transparency.

The command center also establishes a direct link with the city’s disaster risk reduction management office and maintains inter-operability with other command centers.

Dela Rosa welcomed Bautista’s continued support to the QCPD in its fight against criminality.

“I am proud of the performance of the QCPD, especially in the PNP’s war against drugs,” he said.

As part of Mayor Bautista’s continuing commitment to improve the city police’s crime-fighting and prevention, he disclosed plans for the rehabilitation of all existing police stations, the construction of three additional police stations, and acquisition of a custom-made bus that will be converted into an incident command and communication center.

Since Bautista assumed office in 2010, the QC government has invested a considerable amount of funds to acquire additional vehicles and equipment for the city police.

Meanwhile, Bautista has approved an ordinance declaring three parcels of land in Barangay Pansol as a socialized housing site.

City Ordinance 2631-2017, introduced by Councilors Franz Pumaren and Marivic Co-Pilar, said the 2,539-square-meter property in Sitio Kaingin I, which was registered under the name of Antonio Tuazon, is located within the area for priority development and has been forfeited in favor of the city government.

Republic Act 7279 or the Urban Development and Housing Act mandates that lands within existing areas for priority development shall be covered in socialized housing programs and should be on an on-site development if found more practicable and advantageous to the beneficiaries.

“It is high time that the concern for affordable and decent housing at Kaingin 1 and 2, Barangay Pansol, District 3, Quezon City be developed to address their struggle for security of land tenure,” the Ordinance reads.
