Adamson University has refused to cooperate with the National Bureau of Investigation in probing the mauling case against 16 Tau Gamma Phi fraternity members who are enrolled at the school, the parents of the victim—a grandson of Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan—said Wednesday.

NBI Agent Nelson Moreno served the subpoena to the university’s Office of Student Affairs, but the Adamson staff did not give him the addresses of the persons involved, nor allowed him and investigators to conduct an ocular on the crime scene, the Pangilinan family said.

“Sa labas naman nangyari yang pagbubugbog at di naman dito sa school [The beating happened outside the school],” said one staff of the Adamson Student Affairs Office, who refused to be named.

Moreno was also set to meet the school’s legal counsel, lawyer Jan Nelin Navallasca, on Tuesday, but the latter was not available. The Student Affairs Office said they will course the issue through their legal department.

On Aug. 7, Robert Louis Pangilinan was mauled by the frat members who accused the victim of leaking some incriminating photos.

The young Pangilinan said he was repeatedly punched and slapped, and blacked out once. He was also hit with a phone that injured his eye. Robert feared for his life as the frat members carried bladed weapons, his family said.

Two days after, Pangilinan and his parents went to the Las Piñas City Health Office to have his injuries examined by Dr. Arvin C. Marbibi. They filed a case at the NBI with their legal counsel Atty. Alex Avisado.

“We are filing a Criminal Complaint for Attempted Murder under Art. 248 of the Revised Penal Code against Ar-jay Brylle Arao, Flip Qrnt, Gab Ylagan, Daniel Roman, Alvem Bim, Justine Barrameda, Andrew Joseph Ruiz, Em Lanaria, Kenneth Flores, Jasbert Noscal, Ferds Elemancil, Levi Giana, Geeboy Dela Cruz, Marco Sarmiento, Louis Andalio, and John Christopher Domingo,” said Avisado.

All 16 frat members are enrolled at Adamson, where Pangilinan is a third year Hospitality Management student and a member of the men’s basketball team.

Pangilinan’s mother Marissa is praying that Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri’s recommendation for a complete ban on hazing be approved immediately.
