A grandson of Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan was bullied and beaten up by members of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity inside Adamson University on Aug. 7, the student’s mother said.

Robert Pangilinan, 18 and a third year Hotel Management student at Adamson, told agents of the National Bureau of Investigation that the frat members beat him up while other students watched. He managed to run away, said Pangilinan’s mother Marissa.

Robert said the frat members had been harassing him since last year.

“They always bullied him, binabatukan ng mga members [hit at the back of the head] every time they see him. He was recruited by the fraternity with the promise that they will never hurt him. He joined the frat but the group did not stop,” Marissa added.

The office of Senator Pangilinan could not be reached for comment at presstime.

According to one of Pangilinan’s teachers, Robert is a good student with high grades and was very jolly, until the frat began bullying him, the mother added.

“Wala naman kami magagawa dito sa school, at malimit nangyayari pag-bully ng mga Tau Gamma dito. Better magpahinga muna at lipat na lang siya ng school. We also fear for his life (We can’t do anything inside the school. Bullying frequently happens here. Better for Robert to rest and transfer to another school],” said the teacher, who requested anonymity.

The family has tried to contact the college dean, but until now the school has not responded, Marissa said.

Cases of grave threat and serious physical in jury will be filed against Tau Gamma Phi members Ar-Jay Bryce (Grand Triskelion head), Flip Qrnt (Deputy Grand Triskelion), Gab Ylagan (Defense), Daniel Roman (Defense 8), Alvem Bim, Justine Barrameda and Andrew Joseph Ruiz (Information), Em Lanaria, Kenneth Flores (Scroll), Jasbert Noscal, Ferds Elemancil, Levi Giana (CGC), Geeboy Dela Cruz, Marco Sarmiento (Master initiation), Louis Andalio (Master initiation), and John Christopher Domingo.

NBI Head Agent Palmer Mallari promised to investigate the matter immediately.

“We beg the Adamson community to help us on this case, our son is not the only one who is bullied and threatened by these frats. There is no brotherhood and camaraderie,” said Marissa.
