Lanao del Sur—To help boost resolve in the global fight against covid19, the local government of this province has commissioned public utility vehicles, offering free-ride to its front-line workers and authorized persons outside residence (APOR) to and from their towns of residence and places of work.

This developed even as Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong on weekend sent 300 sacks of rice for Muslim Filipino residents of Davao City, and 120 more sacks for Muslim workers in three Metro Manila barangays.

Jennie Alonto Tamano, head of the Provincial Information Office, said specific areas were designated pickup points 6-7 a.m. in Bacolod Kalawi Municipal Hall; at military checkpoint in Tugaya; Balindong Municipal Hall; at Sultan Guro Elementary School at Barangay Inudaran in Marantao—for Marawi-Marantao-Bacolod-Kalawi-Marawi Route.

Also, from 6-7 a.m., a route for Marawi-Ditsaan Ramain-Masiu will pick up frontline workers and APOR at Masiu National Highway, Tamporao National Highway; Mulondo Municipal Hall; Pagalongan Elementary School in Barangay Pagalongan, Ditsaan Ramain; and at Bubong Public Market.

Contracted public utility vehicles will pick up the same workers and APOR from 3-4 p.m. in places near their workstations, Alonto Tamano said.

Lanao Sur has had 697 confirmed cases of covid19, but with a high recovery level of 515 or 73.89 percent, as against a minimal level of covid19-related death cases at 29.

Meanwhile, the food assistance from Lanao del Sur was received for the residents by Regional Director Sherrila Porza of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) in Region 11.

The 300 sacks of rice were re-bagged in five-kilo packages for some 3,000 family-residents of three of Davao City’s congressional districts.

Also 120 sacks were re-bagged into five kilos each for 1,200 bags for Muslim Filipino families in Barangay 383, Barangay 384, Barangay 393 and Port Area, Manila, all in Metro Manila.

The NCMF information director, Dr. Jun Alonto Datu Ramos said community leaders, namely, Barangay Chairpersons Alinor Sharief and Khalil Pundoma, Dr. Basher Papata, and Khanif Arab, received the rice sacks assistance for their community members. They thanked Adiong for the help, Datu Ramos added.
