Guided by its social development vision of “Building the Nation Together,” CEMEX Philippines Foundation recently embarked on a medical mission in Barangay Tibungco, Davao City through its “Kalusugan, Kaligtasan, Kahandaan” or KKK initiative.

More than 300 members of the local community benefitted from the healthcare services provided by a team of doctors who supported the initiative, together with CEMEX Holdings Philippines’ employee-volunteers.

Medical consultations, health and nutrition seminars, circumcision for young boys, as well as medicines and vitamins were made accessible during the mission.

Many also availed of the free haircut services provided by members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as their participation in the program.

“Making healthcare more accessible is a cornerstone in building a more productive citizenry for nation-building,” said Chito Maniago, executive director of CEMEX Philippines Foundation and Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Regional Director of CEMEX Philippines.

“More than this, the outreach program is really intended to show care for our countrymen by helping prevent illnesses through proper healthcare. This is why, with our team of doctors and AFP personnel, CEMEX employee-volunteers made this initiative possible,” he added.

On behalf of the beneficiary community, Barangay Captain Merjade Calvo expressed her gratitude for CEMEX’s continuous support for helping improve the social welfare of communities like Barangay Tibungco and looked forward to a brighter future and more meaningful partnerships between the company and their barangay.

CEMEX Philippines Foundation’s KKK program is under the “Build a Safe and Healthy Citizenry” development agenda of the company’s “Build the Nation Together” umbrella corporate social responsibility program.

With social performance as the company’s license to operate, KKK’s programs are dedicated to empowering communities and uplifting lives through sustainable agendas for health, safety, family planning, and disaster preparedness.

Efforts under the KKK include CEMEX’s support for the Department of Health’s “Isang Milyong Sipilyo” oral healthcare advocacy, Disaster Risk Reduction Management trainings, and the Safe Motherhood Caravan which aims to educate mothers on life-saving maternal and child health services, among others.

CEMEX has a rich history of improving the welfare of those it serves through innovative building solutions, efficiency advancements, and efforts to promote a sustainable future in more than 50 countries worldwide.

In the Philippines, CEMEX subsidiaries Apo Cement Corp. in Cebu and Solid Cement Corp. in Rizal produce and market a broad product mix of building solutions. These cement manufacturing plants carry the well-established cement brands Apo and Rizal.
