The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) set up a National ID registration site at SM City Marilao to provide an accessible and safe space for Step 2 registration and biometric process.

Located at the second floor of the mall, the Philippine Identification System (Philsys) Registration site is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Mondays to Saturdays.

The Step 2 registration validates demographic data and obtains biometric information such as iris scan, fingerprints, and front-facing photographs.

Once done, registrants will have to wait for the Philippine Postal Corporation to deliver the PhilID cards or the national ID.

Signed into law by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in August 2018, Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, aims to establish a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident aliens.

The national ID shall be a valid proof of identity that shall be a means of simplifying public and private transactions, enrollment in schools, and the opening of bank accounts.

It also seeks to boost efficiency, especially in dealing with government agencies where people will only need to present one ID during transactions.

PSA in SM City Marilao encourages the public to first book an appointment and enlist at https://register.philsys.gov.ph to maintain physical distancing measures in the registration site.

Walk-ins are highly discouraged to ensure safety protocols against Covid-19. Health protocols are also strictly observed all throughout the registration process.
