CEMEX supports GMA Kapuso Foundation in rebuilding the nation through education
CEMEX Philippines Foundation, the company’s corporate social responsibility arm, provided 600 bags of cement that went towards the reconstruction of a three-classroom structure at the Mabini Elementary School, which was heavily damaged by typhoon Rolly in November 2020. The reconstructed classrooms will benefit the local school community allowing them to have a conducive learning space to ensure quality education. The new structure was also designed to be more climate-resilient; being able to withstand natural disasters like earthquakes (up to intensity 8) and typhoon winds (up to 300 kph). “The partnership with GMAKF is one of the key initiatives of CEMEX Philippines Foundation this year, anchored on its commitment to Building Education and expanding students' opportunities for a better future,” says Ignacio Mijares, CEMEX Philippines Foundation Chairman and President.
Marily Dizon, grade 7 student of Mabini Elementary School shared with GMA Kapuso Foundation that she saw the newly painted classrooms as a sign of hope.
