Marijuana bricks worth P19M nabbed in raid

Angeles City­—Some P19 million worth of dried marijuana leaves in brick form were confiscated by authorities following a drug bust along Don Juico Avenue adjacent to Clark Freeport in Barangay Malabanias here shortly before noon Thursday.

Police Colonel Joyce Patrick Sangalang, director of the Angeles City Police Office, said two suspects were arrested during the sting operations. 

They were identified as Chris Luban Ramos, 45, of Imus, and Baby Girl Santos Miguel of Tanza, both in Cavite province. Sangalang said the suspects did not resist arrest.

The city director said the two were allegedly responsible for the distribution of marijuana and other illegal drugs in the entertainment strip of the city and transported the drugs from Cavite to Angeles City.

Police Major Aris Gonzales, chief of Station 4 who led the buy bust operation, said the suspects were immediately arrested after they surfaced at an agreed designated area along Don Juico Avenue. Jess Malabanan

Follow-up operations at the rented apartment of the suspects led to the discovery of 115 pieces of marijuana bricks and 16 sealed tubes of the same item, with estimated street value of P19.44 million. A black Mitsubishi Xpander (plate number B6Q665) was also taken into police custody.

The suspects are detained at the ACPO detention cell pending the filing of criminal charges against them. Jess Malabanan
