San Fernando, Pampanga—Payments, disbursements, and other financial transactions within the provincial capitol will be made through the Intelligent Payment Machine provided by the League of Municipalities in the Philippines as among measures to ensure the safety of employees and other individuals against the coronavirus pandemic.

“Financial transactions within the provincial capitol will be contactless,” said Governor Dennis Pineda in a statement, adding the IPM machines will also be installed in different local government units within the province.

The IPM is being offered by LMP through its president, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Chavit Singson, to different LGUs as a convenient way in disbursing cash, paying government dues, and transferring of funds, including cellphone loads.

“The WiFi and satellite-powered IPM aims to provide safer and more convenient financial transactions especially to those who are in the upland and coastal areas who have limited-access to these kinds of services,” said Singson during the turnover of the machine to the provincial government over the weekend.

Pineda expressed gladness in having such technology within the capitol compound, as he encouraged employees to use the machine in disbursement of their salaries and other fees.

“Maraming salamat sa assistance. Tiyak na makakatulong ito para mas mapabilis ang mga transactions natin sa probinsya ng Pampanga,” he said.

Singson led the turnover of the IPM unit during his visit here. He said the machine is intended for the convenience of everyone in the face of the global health crisis.

“Dahil tulong natin ito sa ating mga kababayan, tinanggal natin ang convenience fee. Through this machine makakabayad sila sa SSS, GSIS, NBI, eskwelahan, at iba pa. Pwede rin magpadala ng pera. Diyan na lang sila pupunta hindi na sila iikot para makapagtransact,” Singson said.

To help the provincial government, Singson pledged to provide each municipality at least two units of the IPM machine.
