Angeles City—Fifteen local designers have pledged to assist the city government’s face mask livelihood program.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. met on Friday with local designers and discussed the program with his Chief Adviser and Tactician, IC Calaguas.

Lazatin recently launched the face mask livelihood program in an effort to help residents recover financially as well as protect the environment.

Calaguas said the city government has asked local designers to create face mask designs and patterns.

“Humingi po tayo ng tulong sa ating mga local designers upang pangunahan nila ang nasabing face mask livelihood program at mabigyan nila ng gabay ang mga mananahing kasama sa project na ito. At nagpapasalamat ako sa kanila dahil agad naman silang tumugon,” said the long-time political officer of the Lazatin family.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel explained the city government will hire home-based seamstresses or “mananahi” to produce reusable face masks and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) that will be donated to the frontline workers of Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Health Office, and Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center.

The face masks will also be given free to the city’s poorest of the poor.

“Required na magproduce ng 250 face masks per week, and 20 PPEs per month ang isang mananahi. Ibibigay sa mga frontline workers natin sa Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Health Office at Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center ang mga nagawang PPEs,” Calaguas said.

Also present in the meeting were Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Office Officer-in-Charge Irish Bonus-Llego, Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles, Angeles City Tourism Officer Anneleen Sugui, and Tourism Consultant Cecille Flores.
