NOVELETA, Cavite — In response to the challenge of the "new normal" during the coronavirus pandemic, the local government led by Mayor Dino Reyes Chua distributed free tablet computers to all Junior High and Senior High coed students enrolled this school year on Wednesday.
Chua turned over 3,000 units of tablets to DepEd District Supervisor Dr. Arnel Zapanta, witnessed by Assistant School Division Superintendents Randy Punzalan and Dr. Diana Topacio, in a simple ceremony at the Noveleta National High School in Barangay San Rafael II.
Chua wants to ensure that all students at NNHS and NSHS do not have problems with their online class or E-Learning programs when the official school opening starts on October 5.
The free tablets PCs are the first given out in the province. It also includes free Smart Sim Cards with LTE or Free Data to access to internet. "Salamat po sa pagtugon sa hamon ng New Normal, hindi nyo po iniiwan at pinababayaan ang mga mag-aaral ng Noveleta," Punzalan said in his message.
"Ang mga tablet po na ito ay para po sa mga mag-aaral at mga guro at may mga laptop pa po ito for each public schools," Mayor Chua told the teachers and public school administration.
"Sa modules po kase, may printing of modules, the distribution by teacher in every barangay, may contact, at masalimuot, every week you need to deliver modules, Since may tablet na sila, maari na po tayong hindi mag-aksaya ng mga papel," Chua said.
"On tablets, you can connect to online class in three options, Free Wifi in their respective village halls, Free Wifi in nearby schools, some covered courts, in Town Hall plaza and thru Mobile Data given by Smart PLDT," he said.
"This is a Big Dream for us Noveletenos, maliit na bayan, ngunit may malaking pangarap na magkaroon ng maunlad na bayan at maunlad na mamamayan," Chua added.
This program was held in partnership with Smart PLDT. Recently, Chua also launched the installation of Free Wifi Hotspot in all 16 Barangay Halls, 7 public grade schools, 1 Junior High School (JHS) and 1 Senior High School (SHS), some covered courts and municipal plaza to ensure that all students have access to the internet .
