Mabalacat City—A 75-year-old grandmother was found dead while naked in her bathroom here as burglars stole cash and two mobile phones from her home here in Barangay San Joaquin shortly after midnight Wednesday.

Police Lt. Col. Edgar Guevarra, city police chief, identified the victim as Ligaya Guevarra David, a widow staying with her grandson at No. 384 Dakila Street in said village.

Guevarra said the victim was lying naked on the bathroom floor, with her head dipped in a basin full of water, which investigators believed was used to choke and drown her. He said her body was discovered by grandson Genesis Parker David Neri past 5 a.m.

The police chief said the incident was reported to them past 8 a.m. on the same day.

Neri told investigators he heard commotion outside of his room past midnight but ignored it as he said he was “suffering from a severe headache.” He was awakened by the sound of splash watering in the bathroom that prompted him to check it.

Valuables, including two mobile phones worth P15,000, and a small amount of cash are missing, Guevarra said, as he directed his men to identify and file charges against the suspects as soon as possible.
