Santa Rosa, Laguna—MPCALA Holdings, the concessionaire of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), has donated P1.5 million to a church here.

Fr. Roger I. Tamares, SDB, Parish Priest and Rector of St. John Bosco Parish and Center for Young Workers, received the donation from Christopher C. Lizo, Group Chief Financial Officer of Metro Pacific

Tollways South Management Corporation (MPT South), the parent company of MPCALA Holdings.

“MPCALA Holdings understands the need for various sectors to come together and help our host communities, especially during this difficult time. We shall continue to extend assistance however we can to support our partners in all sectors,” Lizo said.

In cooperation with the local government of Santa Rosa under Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas, the fund shall be used to improve the church’s parking space, and to construct an additional 70 parking slots for churchgoers.

Aside from parking, the space will be used for church initiatives, such as youth fellowships and donation drives to support nearby communities, especially during calamities.

“The local government of Santa Rosa continuously forges partnerships with civil society and the private sector—especially now that we are facing a global health crisis—with the goal of strengthening our communities. This donation will truly help our church in shaping the faith of every churchgoer here in Santa Rosa,” said Mayor Arcillas.

St. John Bosco Parish, which is under the supervision of the Salesian Society of St. John Bosco, Manila Province, is grateful for the donation.

“We thank MPCALA Holdings, Inc. and Mayor Arlene Arcillas for making this possible. With their help, our church will be able to finish this project and provide more parking space for our churchgoers, as well as a suitable venue for church activities,” said Fr. Tamares.

MPT South, which is also the concessionaire of the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and the Cavitex C5 Link Expressway, is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the tollways arm of infrastructure holdings conglomerate, Metro Pacific Investments Corp.

MPTC’s portfolio includes the concessions for the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the NLEX Connector Road, the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and the Cebu- Cordova link Expressway (CCLex) Cebu.
