‘Alagang Len’ to help Biñan tourism workers

Biñan Rep. Len Alonte Naguiat, through the Alagang Len Program, has launched cash assistance for Biñan tourism industry workers who lost jobs or earnings due to the coronavirus lockdowns.

“Tourism-related establishments are still closed, and tourism activities are still prohibited this General Community Quarantine (GCQ). This is just a simple gesture of support for our tourism workforce,” said Alonte, who is a BS Tourism graduate.

The “Tulong Panghanap-Buhay Financial Assistance for Displaced Tourism Industry Workers as Post COVID Intervention” is for Biñan residents who are not financial assistance grantees of DSWD, SSS, DOF, DOLE and 4Ps.

They include resort and hotel employees, travel agency employees, and personal care services employee who have lost jobs or earnings were affected due to COVID-19.

They are asked to submit the following documents, the original and a photocopy until June 11 for Validation and Screening:

Voters ID or Voter Certification, two Government Issued IDs, Proof of Work (certifications, permits, photos and the like), a Letter of Request to Grant Financial Assistance address to Congresswoman Marlyn B. Alonte-Naguiat, and a Letter of Endorsement from the person’s Employment Agency.

“Submit documents at BCHATO, Sentrong Pangkultura ng Binan (Old Municipal Building) from Monday to Thursday between 8 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon and look for Shiela or Che,” Alonte said.

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected the country’s tourism industry. Since the passage of the Tourism Act of 2009, the industry, according to Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, has contributed 12.7% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product in 2019.
