Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya—The provincial government has set aside P12.5 million as assistance to the province’s 275 barangays in mitigating the effects of the Enhanced Community Quarantine brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Robert Corpuz, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said the financial assistance was sourced from their Quick Response Fund to augment the scarce resources of the barangays.

“This will help our barangays in helping their respective communities, especially the poor who are the most vulnerable during the ECQ period. This is just an initial assistance and rest assured that the provincial government will also tap other sources to provide assistance to our poor villagers,” he said.

Corpuz also bared that P3 million worth of food assistance is now ready for distribution to priority affected areas.

He added that they have already coordinated with the Association of Barangay Captains through board member Victor Gines for the scheduling of distribution of the barangay assistance.
