SAN PEDRO, Laguna — Senator Christopher “Bong” Go personally visited the construction of the Super Health Center here in Sitio Bayan-bayanan, San Vicente on March 7.

He was warmly welcomed by Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez, 2nd District Rep. Ruth Hernandez, Vice Governor Karen Agapay, San Pedro Mayor Art Mercado, Repp. Ann Matibag, and host Barangay Captain Jun Ynion.

According to Go, as Chairman of the Senate Health Committee, the purpose of building Super Health Centers especially in rural areas is to bring government services closer to the people.

“:”It’s easier for people to get treatment, especially those who are far away from the town,” he said.

The Super Health Center is larger than the ordinary health center, and can provide first aid for maternal and childcare, immediate relief in emergencies such as dog bites, diagnostic check-up and laboratory tests such as x-ray and ultrasound, among others.

“From Aparri to Jolo, I have done that,” said Senator Go, whose goal “is to serve.”

He also promised to continue helping those who need to be taken out of Manila for treatment, even with fare to and from the hospital, until the patient recovers.

On the same day, Sen. Go also visited the distribution of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) at the covered court of Brgy. San Antonio, which received 600 individuals under the supervision of Congresswoman Matibag.

Likewise, an AICS distribution was done in St. Francis Sports Center, which received 650 individuals led by the Laguna First District Representative.

The senator distributed basketballs to each place he visited that day, “to make the youth focus more on sports and to avoid gangs and drug addicts.”

Cellphones, bicycles, and multivitamins from the senator were a major help to some young people who attended the AICS Program, officials said.

“Although the weather is hot and there are a lot of people everywhere the Senator goes, it doesn’t matter specially to shake hands with their idol, (actor) Philip Salvador, who is always there for his partner, Senator Bong Go,” they added.

The senator’s parting words were: “Ang tanging bisyo ko ay magserbisyo (my only vice is service).” Roy Tomandao
