The Cavite Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office recently took part in the 2nd CALABARZON Tourism Expo and Appreciation Night spearheaded by the Department of Tourism Region IV-A at Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.

The 3-day event was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Laguna Governor Ramil Fernandez, Laguna Board Member Angelica Jones Alarva, OIC-Regional Director Marites Castro, and EK Chief Operating Officer Cynthia Mamon.

During the program, OIC-Regional Director Castro warmly welcomed everyone and expressed her gratitude to all the partner agencies for their unwavering support and commitment in boosting the tourism industry in the region.

The provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon joined the exhibit, showcasing their respective tourism products and services, cultural performing arts group, local delicacies and tourist destinations.

Various travel agencies also offered their best travel deals.

Highlight of the program was the signing of the pledge of commitment of the provinces and stakeholders, signifying their promises in managing businesses towards sustainable tourism and development.

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways formally opened to motorists the Tejero bridge on Christmas Eve, 141 days after they closed the historic bridge here for its five-month repair and maintenance that started last Aug. 4.

Traffic flow on the area returned to light again after the maintenance period ended one week ahead of its five-month contract.

Tanza Mayor Yuri Pacumio thanked DPWH-Cavite for the prompt repairs during a brief interview at his office Friday.

The reopening of the bridge was in time for the holiday season as it decongested the Tejero Crossing in GenTri, according to city Traffic Bureau Chief Noel Morena.

DPWH-Cavite closed the 50-year-old bridge for rehabilitation to ensure the integrity and safety of thousands of motorists traversing the area.

It is a vital link for General Trias to the adjacent towns of Tanza, Naic, Maragondon, and Ternate. It takes motorists up to Nasugbu, Batangas via the Kabiang Tunnel.

Morena said motorists coming from General Trias can still use the Bukal-Pasong Kawayan road or the Governor’s Drive route from Trece Martires City going to Naic road as an alternate route.
